Biopsies are an essential tool for detecting and diagnosing conditions that can’t be identified through routine exams alone.

Biopsies are typically recommended if we notice any unusual changes in your gums, cheeks, tongue, or other areas of your mouth, such as:

• Unexplained sores or lesions that don’t heal
• Lumps or growths in the mouth or gums
• Discoloration of the tissues, such as white or red patches
• Changes in texture of the tissue, like thickening or roughness
